The MataCare Emergency Grant assists students facing unexpected emergencies. This grant is available on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are depleted for the semester. The last day to apply for the Fall 2024 MataCare is November 29, 2024, at 4:00 p.m.
If you are experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity, please visit CSUN’s Housing Stability Resources to apply for housing support from the Basic Needs Office. For additional resources, you can visit CSUN with A HEART through the CSUN Basic Needs Office.
Grant Details:
- Assistance Type: Single, one-time awards. This funding is for emergencies and is not intended for recurring monthly expenses.
- Amount: Grants typically range from $50 to $500, based on the request, documentation provided, and fund availability.
- Repayment: Emergency grant funds are not loans and do not require repayment.
- Documentation: You must submit documentation related to your current emergency. Incomplete applications lacking supporting documentation will be denied.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be enrolled at least half-time (6 units as an Undergraduate or Credential, 4 units as a Graduate or Certificate Student). Students enrolled through Open University are not Eligible.
- Can receive only one MataCare Emergency Grant per academic year.
- You must specify your emergency and provide supporting documentation on the application. Incomplete applications will be denied.
Additional Information:
- Coordination with Financial Aid: The grant is considered emergency financial aid and is coordinated within your financial aid package. If your package cannot accommodate the full amount requested, you may receive a reduced grant or be denied.
- Final Decisions: Decisions are final and cannot be appealed.
